Mineral Filter
How do sunscreens work?
Sunscreens are divided into chemical and physical (mineral) or are obtained by using a combination of these two. The difference between them is as follows: Chemical sunscreens absorb ultraviolet (ultraviolet or UV for short) rays and convert them into heat, which is then released from the skin. Such creams contain octisalate and avobenzone chemicals; This is where their names come from. On the other hand, physical (or mineral) sunscreens act as a "protective filter" and cover the skin, thereby reflecting and scattering UV rays. These creams contain mineral substances such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
What does mineral filter mean?
The mineral filter has the ability to reflect the sun. They reflect the harmful UVA/UVB rays of the sun without contacting the skin with the active ingredients in their content. These substances, which act as a shield for the skin, are called mineral filtered sunscreens due to their mineral structure.
What does mineral filter sunscreen do?
Mineral sunscreens provide safe and healthy protection thanks to their natural ingredients. Mineral sunscreens remove the harmful rays of the sun by reflecting them from the skin surface, thanks to the active zinc dioxide in their formula. Generally broad-spectrum mineral sunscreens do not penetrate the skin surface. Therefore, it does not cause any harm to the skin.
What should be considered when choosing sunscreen?
Creams that contain protection against UVB and UVA, which are the harmful rays of the sun, will provide much more effective protection. Please check the details such as natural ingredients and expiration date before purchasing.
SPF
How many factor sunscreen should I use?
SPF (English Sun Protection Factor) is expressed with a number and shows how much protection that product provides against UVB rays. As the SPF value in sunscreens increases, the duration of protection against UVB rays also increases.
How much sunscreen should I use and when should I use it?
An adult needs enough sunscreen to fill about 2 tablespoons of sunscreen to apply a full body cream, and this cream should be applied to dry skin 15 to 30 minutes before going out in the sun. As long as you are outside, it is useful to apply sunscreen every two hours. Water-resistant sunscreens can stay on wet skin for up to 40 minutes. Sunscreens should be applied even on cloudy or cool days, regardless of the season.
Why should I use SPF creams every day?
Most of us know to take sunscreen with you on vacation to avoid sunburn in warmer climates, but SPF should be used all year round to protect skin against two types of UV light exposure and harmful damage:
UVA (long wave) causes aging, sagging and premature wrinkling.
UVB (short wave) causes sunburn, skin damage and pigmentation.
An easy way to remember the effects of UV light is that UVA causes aging and UVB causes Burning. To prevent such negative effects, sunscreen with SPF should be used every day.
Do I need to use an SPF cream in cloudy weather?
Even if you can't see it, the sun is always there and always rises. Up to 80% of the sun's rays can pass through clouds, and UV radiation can still cause skin damage. Whether it's rainy or sunny, make sure you stay protected!
Do I need to use SPF creams indoors?
The idea that I won't go out today, I don't need sunscreen is not true. Harmful UV rays can pass through the windows of your home and car.
